Range Rules

How you do things

 

  • Know and obey all range commands and range rules.

  • Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.

    1.  When shooting always keep your gun pointed at the backstop.

    2. Adjust your target height so that bullets passing through or near the target will strike the backstop.

  • Always keep your finger outside the trigger guard until ready to shoot.

  • Always keep your gun unloaded until ready to use.

  • Know your target and what is beyond.

    1. Before shooting make sure that there is no one downrange.

    2. Before shooting make sure that your target is high enough so that your bullet will strike the backstop after passing through or near the target.

  • Be sure the gun is safe to operate.

  • Know how to load, unload, and operate your firearm.

  • Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.

  • When at a shooting range with more than one firearm, use one at a time and when finished, store that firearm and its ammunition before using the next one.

  • Always wear hearing and eye protection.

  • Never use substances such as alcohol or drugs, that will impair your ability to safely operate firearm.

  • NO steal core, tracer or explosive type ammunition

  • No smoking eating or drinking at the firing line or shooting benches.

  • No smoking or vaping except in designated areas

    1. Smoking area will be near parking area

    2. Please make sure any fire source is disposed of in the proper container.

  • NEVER go down range unless all shooting lanes are cleared of live/loaded weapons.

Pistol Range Rules

  • ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION.

  • ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO SHOOT, and outside the trigger guard, until ready to fire or until the command "Commence Firing" has been given.

  • ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN UNLOADED UNTIL READY TO USE.

  • No drawing from holster

  • Steel targets must be shot from 15 yards (45 ft)

  • Paper targets have a minimum range of 1 yard (3 ft)

  • Use the barrels as movable “shooting benches”

  • If multiple lanes are in use, everyone MUST be shooting from the closest to the target

  • No use of steel core, tracer or explosive type ammunition

  • No glass targets

  • No long guns allowed

  • All other range rules are in effect

Rifle Range Rules

  • ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION.

  • ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO SHOOT, and outside the trigger guard, until ready to fire or until the command "Commence Firing" has been given.

  • ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN UNLOADED UNTIL READY TO USE.

  • All caliber rifles up to and including .50 BMG are allowed

  • Make sure all lanes are cleared of live weapons prior to going down range.

  • No steel core, tracer or explosive type ammunition allowed

  • No glass targets

  • All other general range rules are in effect
